While Forelle pears got their start in Germany in the 17th and 18th centuries, they’re quite easy to find in New England today. Tiny, red and green and pleasantly sweet, they’re a perfect pear for baking and desserts. If you can’t specifically find Forelle Pears, have no fear. Any fresh local red or brown pear make a wonderful tart.
