New England clams are world famous. There are many places to dig your own, but be sure to get a permit first. The best time to go clamming is an hour before low tide. Quahogs are larger than standard clams, cherrystones are smaller and less chewy. Clam digging is fun, but sometimes it’s also great to pick up your clams at the local fish market.

Whatever you decide, The Modern Proper has an elegant twist on the standard recipe for clams with linguine. You can get their incredible recipe for Champagne and Cream Clams with Linguine by clicking here.
